We’re all used to those bulbous super wides aboard SLRs that give many photographers that very pregnant look. Well, the Elmar-M 18mm f3.8 is compact and svelte. It just so happens to take in a 100º view. Don’t restrict this to landscape photography. The superbly corrected optical design makes this a prime lens for the architectural photographer who needs to keep those lines straight. Its small footstep also makes it ideal for discreet street photography and photojournalism. The Super-Elmar-M 18mm f3.8 ASPH features eight lens elements with one possessing two aspherical surfaces. This translates into scintillating performance even at f3.8.
The accessory 18mm bright line finder is one of the new generation finders that I raved about. It uses a mirror to reflect additional light onto the frame lines. It also has 2 frame lines. One is for the 18mm focal length and the other is for 24mm, the effective focal length when using an M8 digital camera.
